Accepting/Declining Assignments: Things to Consider (English)
This seminar is conducted primarily in spoken English, without interpretation.
It is open to anyone comfortable learning and holding discussion in spoken English. It is designed for both working and student interpreters (hearing, Coda). There are no prerequisites for this program.
About this seminar
Whether an interpreter is appropriate for an assignment might go well beyond linguistic ability. Often, we lack opportunities for deep exploration of what makes an interpreter suitable for a variety of work environments. This seminar explores the bases for deciding whether assignments are suitable for a given interpreter. We will examine factors related to content, culture, biases, physical and emotional abilities, and more.
