Deaf Foundations

Thank You

On behalf of the Bilingual Mediation Center, all the coordinators for seminars, the support staff, and the Deaf participants who are seeking training, we want to thank you for your generous donation.

As you know, there are still limited job opportunities for Deaf interpreters, and most Deaf interpreters are not able to support themselves with this work. As a result, it can be difficult for them to afford the travel, lodging, and registration costs necessary to take advantage of the few high quality trainings that are designed for their needs. There are bright prospects in the interpreting field for well-trained Deaf Interpreters--for their regular and widespread use. Your donations help defray some of the costs for our Deaf colleagues, making these trainings available, and supporting the growth of the field.

When you register for any BMC event, you have the option to donate to Deaf Foundations: Ally Donations.

We are grateful for your support and hope others will follow your lead by donating whatever they can to this worthwhile effort.

Deaf Foundations: Ally Donation

2018 Donations

Throughout 2018, we are accepting donations toward offering reduction in the cost of programs for Deaf Interpreters and/or scholarships for them to attend Deaf Foundations of Interpreting seminars.

At the Bilingual Mediation Center, we invite you to make donations as Allies to Deaf Foundations of Interpreting.

As you know, there are limited job opportunities for many Deaf interpreters. Most Deaf interpreters do not find sufficient work. As a result, it can be difficult for them to afford the travel, lodging, and registration costs necessary to take advantage of the few high quality trainings that are designed specifically for Deaf Interpreters. There are bright prospects in the interpreting field for well-trained Deaf Interpreters. Your donations help defray some of the costs for our Deaf colleagues, making these trainings more readily available and supporting the growth of the field.

Please donate to Deaf Foundations: Ally Donations.

We are grateful for your support and hope others will follow your lead by donating whatever they can to this worthwhile cause.

Comments from Foundations Evaluations

What did you learn during this session?

How a message is 'tailored' to the audience based on the speaker's goal and what that looks like. I've never identified the CRP components and understood how critical they are to a message.

In what ways did the workshop presenter facilitate your learning?

The fact we started from the ground and built up.. Identifying our own starting points, habits, and thought processes. Then taking us through each step of analyzing a message, each component stripped down to the nuts/bolts. Then how these components at the core are the message, and if you change just one part it can effect everything.

What kind of follow-up would aid in your learning development?

I kinda wanna do it all over again now that the lights have come on.. can we stay together another 3 days laughing
